Another haunted place, another part of the city

St-Patrick Street is the easiest way around the trafic jams for whoever comes from the Southwest part of Montreal. You easily avoid the highways and the narrow Notre-Dame Street, while still being able to reach far into the Old Port

It is also a definitive truckers route, considering the number of factories that you come accross when you drive there. St-Patrick goes as far as Lachine on its western stretch.

Train tracks are a constant reminder of the importance of St-Patrick and its area as a big industrial park located a couple of miles only from downtown that it used to be in the past.

The other stricking things when you travel down St-Patrick Street are the very old factories that you can see on this side of the Canal Lachine. For a brief moment, you can feel that accross the canal, you're not even in the same year as you are on St-Patrick.

Un autre lieu hanté, un autre coin de la ville.

La rue St-Patrick fait office de voie de contournement pour les habitants du Sud-Ouest de Montréal qui doivent se rendre dans le centre-ville sans passer par les autoroutes engorgées de traffic et la rue Notre-Dame qui n'est tout simplement pas assez large (et trop passante).

C'est aussi et avant tout une rue pour les camionneurs qui doivent se rendre dans les nombreuses industries qui s'y sont établies depuis très longtemps.

Des voies ferrées abandonnées longent St-Patrick et la croisent à de nombreuses reprises, vestiges d'une époque où le quartier était un gigantesque parc industriel.

De Lachine au Vieux-Port, on ne peut éviter les spectaculaires édifices industriels qui la bordent, d'un côté comme de l'autre du Canal Lachine.
